Accessibility in the Converia Virtual Venue

In general, the Virtual Venue’s platform architecture is screen-reader compatible.

Previous Google Chrome test sessions using features such as Apple VoiceOver have shown good results and we’ll continue to keep accessibility in mind as part of the further development of our software.

In some areas of the Virtual Venue, our web player is used for video output. The accessibility features our video player provides are documented here.

We generally recommend using either Google Chrome, Mozilla Firefox or Microsoft Edge. Our tests have proven that the Chrome browser works most reliably when used in combination with a screen reader.

Commonly, people will use their pre-installed screen reader (e.g. Apple VoiceOver for Mac or other default software). Due to a lack of experience, we are not able to recommend specific software. Based on our experience, we would, however, like to refrain from integrating an external solution.

Technical note: Additional checks using the W3C validator initially returned many false positives due to the HTML attributes that Angular uses freely. Once they are filtered according to the validator administrators’ instructions, no significant error messages remain.
