Use a white background in order to
illuminate the surroundings in the best possible way. In any case, a monochromatic background is recommended so that the focus remains
on the speaker. Consider what appears in the video frame and remove irrelevant and distracting items.
The right lighting is crucial. A soft light
should fall on your face, coming from the camera’s direction. Natural
sunlight or video lights are recommended. Avoid back-lighting, especially from windows.
Maintain frequent eye contact in
order to keep your audience’s attention and engagement.
The camera should at least be a webcam or
a built-in laptop camera that is positioned in front of you and at eye level. You can
also use newer smartphones for recording. A smartphone tripod ensures a good reliable stable position.
Invest in a headset to eliminate feedback
as well as noise interference. Turn off your own speakers to avoid
echoing.
Whenever possible, pre-produce your video
content and use video editing software.
