In breakout rooms, all participants have moderator rights and share the role of the presenter. As a participant in a breakout room, you can therefore
- … upload a presentation or share an external video (see fig. 1)
- … share your screen (using the button next to the camera icon)
- … work collaboratively using the whiteboard (this requires opening a presentation first, you will then find the controls for the whiteboard on the right)
- By default, the last presentation slide that appeared in the main room will be displayed upon entering the breakout rooms but participants are not able to switch to another slide. If necessary, prepare a separate slide that contains workshop-specific instructions or introductory information. In case you want participants to work on a whiteboard together, we recommend that you create a presentation with several empty slides and upload them to the breakout rooms.
- At the moment, it’s not possible to save the results when using the whiteboard feature and they will also not be transferred to the main meeting room. Please tell participants to create screenshots if they want to document their work.
- As an alternative, you can also use the Shared Notes feature to document and download group-work results (see fig. 2).
Returning to the Main Room
In your breakout room, the remaining time for the breakout session will appear at the top center. Please also pay attention to buffer times the session chairs might have specified which may cause the breakout session to end before the time is up. When the breakout session time is up or the session chairs close the breakout rooms, you will be automatically brought back to the main room of the BBB meeting. When this happens, you will again be asked to choose between joining the meeting with an active microphone or to just listen in (see fig. 3; fig. 4).
Note:
If you fail to hear yourself in the private echo test, the browser might
have selected the wrong microphone from your computer’s default settings. In
this case, please click No and choose your audio components manually (see
fig. 5). If you have already entered the room and finished the echo test, you can also change the audio components using the listener icon below the presentation area (see fig. 6).
