Technical Requirements for a Live Video Presentation

Basically, the same conditions for general participation apply. For a detailed list, please refer to the following chapter: Technical requirements for the proper use of the Virtual Venue

A stable, preferably wired (LAN) internet connection is required. In case only WiFi is available, you should be in the 5GHz network and in immediate vicinity of an access point (DSL router). In the mobile network, a stable connection is only possible when using 4G / LTE; always make sure you have good reception. Please prohibit or abort all processes such as upload, download, file sharing or streaming that might run simultaneously, regardless of whether you or another person that shares your internet connection started them.

For presenters, the available upload speed is particularly critical as they stream the video content to the server. The higher the upload speed, the faster your stream will reach the conference attendees. A delay-free stream will particularly benefit the interactive elements of the Converia Virtual Venue such as chats, the commentary feature and the interaction in virtual conference rooms.

In order to guarantee a smooth live video broadcast, free bandwidth for speakers should be at least 5 MBPS for download and 2 MBPS for upload. You can test the actual bandwidth at https://www.speedtest.net/.

If you're organizing a webinar, you can use the BigBlueButton (BBB) software in the Converia Virtual Venue. Different factors play an important role in calculating the required bandwidth. You can find more information here: Technical requirements for the use of BigBlueButton (BBB)
