Home Page Appearance

Customizable Tiles

The start page can be individualized with freely customizable content tiles.

The start page has a default layout consisting of customizable content elements:
  1. Menu bar - The event logo and the menu items for the individual (active) areas of the Virtual Venue are displayed here.
  2. Event banner - The event banner, which is also visible on the login page, is displayed here.
  3. Highlight start page tiles (optional) - Start page tiles can be displayed in a more prominent position here. If multiple tiles are highlighted, then subsequent tiles are not displayed until previous tiles have been actively clicked away by the user. The order can be defined in the backend. Highlight tiles that are clicked away by users can still be found among the "common" home page tiles.
  4. Sessions - The position of the sessions tile is fixed and not configurable. It displays the current program and the program that is about to start.
  5. Chat - An open chat element for all participants to communicate freely.
  6. People online - The position of the people tile is fixed, and the content is not configurable. Participants with common interests, if previously selected, are displayed here.
  7. Sponsor slider - Sponsor banners can be placed here. Multiple banner graphics will automatically cycle through.
  8. Start page tiles - Any number of start page tiles can be placed below each other and filled with content. A maximum of the first 3 tiles is displayed directly. More tiles can be displayed by selecting View all.
  9. Sponsor logo parade - Sponsor logos can be placed here and linked to sponsor detail pages or external pages.
  10. Footer - The footer contains the links to contact, legal notice and privacy pages, as well as the language switcher. There's also an additional option to give general feedback regarding the platform.

In addition to the fixed tiles Sessions (4) and People online (6), we recommend offering 1-3 start page tiles with individual event-related content. Use these tiles, for example, to visually highlight a keynote, to provide a speaker image and a link, for a brief presentation of the event location or to offer press material for download.

Structure of the customizable start page tiles

The layout of the customizable start page tiles is fixed and can be filled with the following content:
  1. Title (2) - Always displayed in bold and to the right of the image or placeholder element. Line break is dynamic, depending on the user's device, and cannot be set. Also used for overview in the backend listing of start page tiles.
  2. Text (3) - Displayed on the right side of the image and below the title. Line breaks are dynamic, depending on the user's device, and cannot be set. Formatting is possible
  3. Image (1) - PNG format; aspect ratio should be identical for all tiles on the home page; ideally 1:1; approx. 700px page length.
  4. Download (4) - Documents and other files can be provided for download. A download button is displayed below the text area.
  5. Link (4) - Internal and external links can be stored as URL and displayed as link text or button in the tile. The link or button text should not exceed 30 characters.
  6. Chat - If the chat is selected as a content element, the tile will be displayed as a central chat tile at a specified position (see fig. 1). Only one chat tile can be created. Other content elements in the chat tile will be ignored.
  7. Video/Audio - Video and audio files can be made available in a player in the home page tile. The files can be uploaded directly from the Virtual Venue backend. The tile will first show a Watch Video button. Upon clicking it, the tile will open, and the player will be visible.
  8. Livestream/Playlist - If you want to display a livestream or several videos as a playlist in one player in the start page tile, you have to enter a channel or playlist ID. A Watch Video button will then appear in the tile. Upon clicking it, the tile will open, and the player will be visible. Please contact the Converia Support for more information.
